Hi everybody,
This week was again one of the better ones down at the shelter. Thanks to Amarra, we had Project Positive come down for a bit to hang with us. Project Positive is a hip-hop performance group based out of Philadelphia. They have approximately 10-15 members who perform in public areas, do workshops and also give back with free lessons like today. This week we only had two members of the gang but they still brought the shelter to life! The highlight of my week was working with a different participant, which is becoming a routine for me. I’ve pretty much gotten used to expecting new students and being ready to teach from the beginning again. But this particular participant wasn’t interested in taking photos: She was more interested in video. So I handed her a T3i and tripod and quickly showed her the basics of SLR video (or at least what I know)! Once the performance and lessons got started, I let her just do her thing and play around with it. Overall, she got some pretty great footage which I’m going to combine with some stills for a nice little video for the website.
I think this was a great week and kudos to Amarra for finding a way to control the cabin fever. Everybody was invested in some way and it makes me look forward to our trip to Magic Gardens this upcoming week. Hopefully the weather will hold out and we’ll have a good time. Keep checking the blog – More to come!
Until Next Time…
