"Makeup" Week

 • Hey all,

I can’t believe it’s currently Easter Break! This unfortunately means the semester is almost over and I won’t get to see these awesome program members as often! With this week being Easter Holiday, things were a little different. Six students from YES came to Cabrini instead of us heading into Philly and since I wasn’t busy, I figured I should come and assist where needed.
This week as a whole was really awesome. I think what made it so great was that it was so close-knit. There were six students from YES and four of us from Cabrini so it helped build the one-on-one relationships. We started out by showing them around the COM Wing and most of them were in complete awe of the facilities. Something we should all think about when complaining about technology not working, things not going our way, etc. Eventually we transitioned into the photo classroom and we started teaching Photoshop. We didn’t delve in too deep, which surprisingly I think was really good. It allowed the kids to get creative and see what you can do with the application.

 • After that we broke bread over our usual pizza, brownies and soda and continued to play around with Photoshop. A little bit later, I needed some help from Suzie with my final project so we switched gears into the video studio so we could record her singing. She has one of the most beautiful voices for someone of her age and vocal experience. But then other people wanted to jump on the mic and sing as well! We had a great time recording them sing a variety of genres and songs although my favorite part was when previously a student claimed he didn’t sing… but eventually after a couple others had gone, he had a song on his phone and microphone in-hand.

 • Like I said previously, it was another amazing week and it’s such a shame that everything is getting great at the end of the semester. But that simply means I have to make these last few weeks count and utilize the time we have with them. Not sure what the game plan is going to be for next week, classes are cancelled due to the symposium (which I am scheduled to attend), but we definitely need to do another photo event while it’s not raining. So what is to come… who knows?
